Thassos

Some places look amazing on Instagram but disappoint in real life.

Thassos is not one of them!

The little Greek island somehow manages to exceed every expectation. The water is so clear you’ll question whether your sunglasses are working. The food is dangerously good. The people are genuinely welcoming.

Here’s how our perfect week in Thassos unfolded.

Instead of staying in one of the busy coastal resorts, we booked Blo… Terra Boutique in the traditional mountain village of Theologos. Best decision ever.

Imagine waking up surrounded by olive trees, breathing fresh mountain air, and hearing birds instead of traffic. It feels like stepping into another era – except WI-FI and excellent coffee. Whenever we wanted something quick and delicious, we stopped by Iatran Taver for gyros. Let’s just say… after the first bite, every kebab back home lost its appeal.

Calma Beach – The name doesn’t lie

Some beaches have creative names that promise everything. Calma beach simply tells the truth.

The see here is unbelievably calm, crystal clear and comes in about fifty shades of blue. It’s the kind of water you can actually see your feet without wondering what mysterious sea creature just brushed against your feet.
The beach is organized with comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas at reasonable prices, based on consummation, so you can finally embrace your holiday mood.

Feeling adventurous?

Rent a SUP (Stand-Up Paddle Board) and glide across water so transparent you’ll feel like you’re floating in mid-air. It’s peaceful, ? and surprisingly good exercise – although nobody has to know you’re doing sports on vacation.

The best Lamb Kleftiko you’ll ever eat

After spending the day at the beach, you drive to the village of Sotiros for dinner at Taverna Platona. Order the lamb Klefliko.Don’t even look at the menu. Just trust me.
Slow – cooked until it practically falls and infused with herbs, garlic and olive oil, this dish is what happens when Greek grandmothers decide to show off.
You’ll probably spend the rest of the holiday comparing every other meal to this one.
Spoiler alert: they all lose.

Livedi Beach – Wild…But not so wild

If beaches had personalities, Livadi Beach would be that effortlessly cool friend who looks amazing without trying.
It’s semi-wild, surrounded by beautiful nature and dramatic rocks, but still offers sunbeds (not based on consummation, if …)

The water?
Absolutely ridiculous
Crystal clear, Emerald, Turquoise. So clean that fish seem genuinely surprised to see human swimming.

Lunch was easy

We sat down at San Antonio Beach Restaurant and ordered their famous calamari stuffed with feta cheese.
Whoever first thought “Let’s put feta inside squid”, deserves some ? of culinary award.
It was fresh, creamy, perfectly grilled, and one of those meals that forces complete silence at the table because everyone is to busy eating.

Metalli Beach – Sworkelling Heaven

If your inner child still gets excited about discovering fish , Metalli Beach is your place.

It’s rocky underwater landscape makes it one of the best snorkeling spots on the island.
Visibility is fantastic, the water sparkles, in the sunlight and before long you’ll be following little schools of fish like you’re filming your own documentary.
After all that swimming, we headed to Molos Restaurant.

Their grilled octopus was simply perfection.

Tender, smoky, lightly charred and served with just enough lemon to remind you why Mediterranean cuisine is famous around the world.

Ciolo Lagone – Nature Showing off

You’ve probably seen Ciolo Lagone on social media

Good news!
It actually looks litke that.

The famous natural rock pool is carved into the coastline and filled with ? clear see water. Reaching it requires a short rocky walk, so leave your fancy flops behind unless you’re hoping for an unexpected foot massage.

Standing above the lagone, you’ll understand why it’s one of the most photographed places in Thassos.

And yes… people jump into it.
Whether you join them or simply admire the view is entirely up to you courage.

The restaurant we couldn’t stop talking about

We had some incredible meals all over Thassos but if we could only revisit one restaurant it would be Aqostos…

Why Thassos is Greece’s Best-Kept Secret

Thassos isn’t about luxury beach clubs or influencers fighting for the perfect selfie.

It’s about swimming in unbelievably clear water.

Finding hidden beaches

Rating food that tastes like it was cooked with recipes passed down for generations.

Watching sunsets with a glass of local wine.

And wondering why you didn’t visit sooner.

If you’re searching for one of the most beautiful Greek island – with amazing beaches, authentic taverns, crystal clear water, snorkeling spots, paddleboarding and unforgettable local cuisine – put Thassos on you travel list.

Just one warning…
You’ll leave with hundreds of photos, a slightly tighter swimsuit and a strong desire to book you next trup before you’ve even unpacked.
